Event details

We were brave, we were mad, we were bold and we were fabulous. Ngahuia Te Awekotuku, 2020.

This walk traces the origins of the Gay Liberation movement that took place here in 1972. This radical activist group was made up of mainly young people and was responsible for bringing LGBTIQ+ people out of the closet and proudly onto the city's street for the first time in the country's recent history.

Presented by: Auckland Council
