Event details

Built in 1862, Highwic was once the home of the prominent Buckland family. It is one of New Zealand's finest examples of carpenter gothic architecture.

In a special tour, our Highwic heritage guide goes beyond-the-ropes and explores over 10 rooms of this rambling mansion.

Hear the stories and secrets of the Buckland family's 116 years at Highwic and view a range of newly uncovered artifacts. These artifacts were discovered during a recent archaeological dig and provide clues as to how the Buckland family lived at Highwic - we now know that they ate a lot of canned fish!
