Dr David Bade, Auckland Council, launches Auckland’s Heritage Counts 2019.

This talk launches the second edition of Auckland’s Heritage Counts - a compilation of up-to-date statistics and research on Auckland’s heritage. It highlights the extent and variety of Auckland's heritage and its social and economic benefits.

Some key statistics and research covered include:

  • How many Aucklanders live within a five minute walk of a protected heritage place.
  • Which local boards have the most protected heritage places per person and kilometre.
  • What proportion of visitors to Auckland associate the city with heritage.
  • How many people visited heritage attractions in the past year.
  • Insights from the heritage volunteer sector.
  • Research on businesses in the K'Road historic heritage area.
