Event details

Tune in online to take an in-depth look at the life of this 100-year-old, heritage category 1 listed building: past, present and future. In this video, we’ll explore the building’s early use as the Chief Post Office then fast-forward through time to its current use as home of the Britomart Transport Centre and City Rail Link works. Audiences will hear what it was like to work as a telegraph technician in the building’s basement in its earlier years, and also find out about how the whole building was lifted mere millimetres to allow for the construction of twin CRL tunnels beneath it. After the video, there will be time for a live Q&A session with the experts.

Participants can tune to this virtual tour from the comfort of their own homes, provided they have a computer and internet access. A link will be given closer to the time to those who sign up.
