Event details

The history of Holy Trinity Cathedral is a record of times and changes in Aotearoa between 1840 and 2020.

George Augustus Selwyn established the precinct which still contains two main buildings, the beautiful wooden neo-Gothic St Mary's Church completed in 1888, as well as the famous Auckland landmark Holy Trinity Cathedral.

Known as the world's only example of the 'Pacific Gothic' style, its stunning stained-glass windows feature Polynesian themes.

This tour will take us through both the Cathedral and St Mary's Church. We will hear about the early history of the Anglican church in this area, the building of the Cathedral, and the interesting 'secret' about the Church that moved!
