Tāmaki Pātaka Kōrero | Central City Library is celebrating 125 years since New Zealand women led the way to the polling booths.
Securing the right to vote was a game-changing moment for the wāhine of Aotearoa, and the world. From the loudest of roars to the gentlest of whispers, the victory demonstrated the power of collective action in bringing about meaningful social change.
Wāhine Take Action: the exhibition is a celebration of all those women who wrote a letter, signed a petition, spoke out against injustice and led their communities.
Content includes rare books, photographs, newspapers, manuscripts and ephemera from the 19th century to the present.
