A rare chance to delve into the Maritime Museum's library archives during this free event with expert archivist Danielle Carter.
Danielle is the Archives and Library Manager for the Bill Laxon Maritime Library at the NZ Maritime Museum.
Danielle will give insights into the library collection and the taonga it holds on the people and the vessels of Auckland's maritime heritage.
Learn what kind of information the museum holds for family or academic research and hear a few of Danielle's favourite stories found during her on-going explorations of the archives.
From oral histories with iconic seafarers, navigators and pioneering female captains to passenger and crew diary entries of their voyages at sea, the library is an immense public resource.
This is an opportunity to visit the newly renovated library, understand this public resource better and enjoy light refreshments on the side!
