Auckland historians David Wong Hop and Lisa Truttman present their work from their recently published book 'Looking for a Better Life'. They sourced this collection of information from poll tax certificate information held at Archives New Zealand.
The book also gives general information about Chinese settlement in the Auckland region, from the 1860s to the start of the 20th century.
