Home Front focuses on those left at home when the 'boys' went off to war. Words, pictures, and objects add to the story, from the swell of patriotism to the underlying sense of absence and for many, loss.

Originally devised by Auckland War Memorial Museum, the Papakura Museum exhibition features the contributions of men, women and children from the Papakura district. Doing their bit for the war effort, they staged fundraising events, knitted clothes, wrote letters and sent parcels.

This display acknowledges them all: those left behind, those who served, and those who did not return.
